Text Box: Peabody-Burns art classes

Nothing better than spring

The elementary had a very productive year. The following are samples from each grade

This year the 3rd grade learned how to use shapes to draw robins. After practicing different ways to draw a robin they used chalk to add color and blend for details.

First graders learned about making more than just stick figures when they draw. They added details like fingers and eyebrows and an their favorite outfit. Once they finished they painted their self portraits with watercolor.

It’s Me

The 6th grade ended the year by learning to grid a picture to get the correct proportion. After they drew contour lines they filled in the pictures with different values. The darker and lighter value make the picture look more realistic.

Drawing to look real

The third and fourth grade set out on a mission to learn proportion and people. Learning to draw the arms the right length and how many heads a person is tall. Then they took pictures of their teachers and painted huge examples to hang by their rooms.

Teachers and Paint

This  year 5th and 6th graders learned to pay attention to contour lines. They also learned about the artist Georgia O”Keefe. They then drew flowers in the style of O’keefe and used oil pastels to colorize.
