Recent Events: Dinner Theatre was MARCH 29th, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Brown Auditorium

We worked diligently to prepare for our Dinner Theatre, which was March 29th, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. due to the winter weather.  It was a delight having it at the high school this year due to the increase in interest!  We were excited that we outgrew the PBES Multipurpose Room and entertained a good-sized crowd for the performance despite the weather.  Again, thanks to all the parents and local supporters who helped before and after the show!!  We couldn’t have done it without you!

Old News:

The concession stand January 29th was a success.  Everyone pitched in, and we were able to raise a few hundred dollars for Dinner Theater 2009.

Voices Valentines:   Singing Valentines were a hit this year.  Many took advantage of the new options for gifts accompanying the songs, including red and yellow roses, sugar heart cookies, soft cream cheese mints and nuts and chocolate kisses with balloons from Jack Rabbit Hollow, in addition to the traditional chocolate chip heart cookies of past years.  We also had two new additions to the regular valentine songs – Muffin Man and Oh, My Darlin’, Clementine.  Again, all proceeds went to the vocal department to fund future performances and activities.  Thanks again to everyone who helped and supported us in the venture!

From ’08

Voices: The vocal music department worked hard to raise money for new outfits last year.  Both the Voices and Choir women wore new dresses last fall while the men waited.  We are excited to show off their new look this year; come out and watch these men dance!

Voices attended the HOA League Honor Choir October 9, 2008.  The concert was in Ell-Saline, and we enjoyed seeing a few local patrons who made the long drive to support us.  The students represented our school with pride!

Choir: In addition to their preparation for the October 21st Fall Concert and December 15th Christmas concerts, we made plans for a class trip geared toward researching possibilities for lifelong music groups and continued performing arts throughout life.  Students answered questions like some of these listed below.  How would someone go about organizing performing groups as adults?  Where can resources be found, and how can appropriate music and materials be selected?

Junior High Choir:

The junior high choir showed off their new outfits at their Fall 2008 concerts, and really put on a great show.  They were also able to work with PBHS students in this year’s musical, Bye Bye Birdie.  They were an excellent contribution to the performance.
