Mr.
Glover grew up in Peabody. He attended
school at USD 398 Peabody-Burns, graduating from Peabody High School in 1987 as
class Salutatorian. During high school,
he was active in band, choir, all-school musicals, Forensics, Quiz Bowl, and
StuCo. Mr. Glover participated in the
KMEA District Band and Choir three years.
He performed both vocal and saxophone solos and ensembles for music
festivals.
After
high school, Mr. Glover attended Kansas State
University (Go Wildcats!), participating in many music activities,
including the “Pride of Wildcat Land” marching band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble,
KSU Concert Band, KSU Chorale, KSU
Choir, and productions of “South Pacific”, “Trouble in Tahiti”, “Carmen”, and
“Grease”. He did his student teaching at
Theodore Roosevelt Elementary and Manhattan High School. Mr. Glover graduated with a Bachelor of Music
Education degree in December 1991. In
May 2008, he received his Master of Arts in Teaching from Friends University in Wichita.
Mr.
Glover began his teaching career at Ingalls, KS, in the Fall of 1992. He taught 5 – 12 Band, 7 – 12 Vocal, and 2 –
3 General Music. After three years in
Ingalls, he returned to his home town to teach K – 5 Music and Band at Burns
Elementary and 7 – 12 Vocal at Peabody-Burns Junior/Senior High School. After three years, he began teaching 5 -12
Instrumental music, in addition to 7 – 12 Vocal. After several years of teaching just the
bands and K – 3 General music, Mr. Glover is once again excited to be adding 7
– 12 Vocal back to his teaching duties.
In
his spare time, Mr. Glover enjoys many different activities with friends and
family. Of course, music is one of his
passions and he continues to sing and play the saxophone, piano, and
occasionally the organ. When time
permits, he enjoys composing his own music and creating arrangements of
favorite hymns. Mr. Glover is an avid
reader and especially enjoys Science Fiction/Fantasy, mysteries, historical fiction,
and books about National Parks. He also
enjoys playing cards (especially pitch, pinochle, and canasta) and various
games (Trivial Pursuit is a favorite!)
Mr.
Glover was married on July 15, 2000, to Donna Bloomer, who teaches at
Peabody-Burns Elementary School. They
have two sons, ages 6 and 4, who keep them very busy! The Glover family attends Grace Community
Church in Newton. One of the family’s
favorite activities is traveling to different zoos around the state and
country. The family hopes to visit all
50 states at some point (and visit the zoos!) and travel to as many different
National Parks as possible.
