Peabody-Burns Success Center

Mrs. Gottsch Room 128

Grading for a class taken in the Success Center is different than in the traditional classroom. Each subject has different requirements but each class must be completed in its entirety in order for a student to earn credit for the class.

Progress Reports

Credit for a class taken and completed at the Success Center is a “Pass” grade.

If a student completes all requirements for the class he or she will earn a “pass” grade on their transcript. No letter grades(A, B, C) will be given.

If a student fails to complete all requirements then he or she will earn a “fail” grade on their transcript.

Credit

Because each student works independently on his or her own classes, giving a weekly grade for progress reports is difficult; but I realize parents would like to know whether their child is progressing as they should be so a “graphic progress summary report” is sent home every two weeks to show work completed or not completed. This graph also shows the percentage of class completed. It is possible for a student to complete a class in less time than a semester, or it is possible for a student to take more time than a semester.

If nothing has been done during a given week the student will receive an “F” for the week, will be given a “pink slip” and put on the ineligible list.

Other than an F for the ineligible list no grades will be entered into edustar.

Progress Reports

If a student completes 8% of their class during the week they have earned an “A” for that week and can (if they choose to) listen to music while working the following week. The student must provide their own music and listen through headphones.

A’s for the week

There are several opportunities for students to earn some time at the gym or even go fishing if classroom goals are met. The teacher explains these goals ahead of time and all students are able to participate. It is up to the student if goals want to be reached.
