Mrs. Retzlaff was born and raised in Gypsum, Kansas. She attended and graduated from Southeast of Saline School in May of 1997.
She then went on to attend Dodge City Community College from August 1997—May 1999. At DCCC, Mrs. Retzlaff was involved in the band and choir programs. She played in concert band, jazz band, pep band, concert choir, and the college singers. In August 1999, Mrs. Retzlaff started at Kansas Wesleyan University. Where she graduated in December 2001 with the Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. While attending KWU, Mrs. Retzlaff again was involved with the concert band, jazz band, pep band, concert choir, and the select choir.
After graduating from KWU, in 2001. Mrs. Retzlaff married Mr. Larry Retzlaff in January of 2002.
After living apart for the 1st 6 months that they were married, Larry ended his commitment to the US Navy and moved back to Kansas. Where they both started their careers. Mrs. Retzlaff started her career at St. Andrew’s Elementary School in Abilene, Kansas. At St. Andrew’s, Mrs. Retzlaff taught 1st grade and Music for 4 years. They then moved to Herington, Kansas where Mrs. Retzlaff taught 2nd grade for a year and the 7th & 8th grade Communications for a year. She also was the cheerleading sponsor for a year. The Retzlaff’s decided to move once again after Larry graduated from Kansas State University in May 2008. Larry accepted a position as an engineer at AGCO Corp. in Hesston, Kansas and Mrs. Retzlaff accepted a position teaching 4th grade at Peabody-Burns Elementary School. |
