Prerequisite:             Computer Technology

 

Course Description: Desktop Publishing will acquaint the students with graphic design techniques, principles of page layout and design and desktop publishing terminology.  Students will create professional publications while learning the application and terminology of the selected desktop publishing software.

 

Textbook:       Thompson Series, Adobe InDesign CS2 Revealed

 

Method of Teaching:  Presentation of the lecture material is taught through the use of a computer and projector utilizing PowerPoint slideshows.  Software is taught by demonstration and student activities.  The actual creation of live production work consumes a large majority of class time.

 

Grading Method:  Students are graded on completing individual projects as presented.  Student assessment includes both written and hands-on application projects.  The district grading scale determines grades for this class.
