Classroom Procedures:
We will have many procedures for this class.  I am under the belief that for a student to reach his/her potential in the classroom they need to understand what is being asked and required of them at all times.  We will have procedures for a variety of items in the classroom. Here are a few examples:

  1. What to do when the bell rings
  2. What to do when the pencil breaks
  3. What to do when the drill bell rings
  4. What to do when you have been absent
  5. What to do when you finish your work early
  6. What to do when you have a question

Along with the many procedures in class, we will also be using the Boys Town Life Skills in class.  They are located on page 13, 14, and 15 of the student handbook.

Grading Policy:
Students will be graded on a grading scale of:
            A                     100 – 90
            B                     89 – 80
            C                     79 – 70
            D                     69 – 60
            F                      59 – 00
Students will earn class points from a variety of different ways:  homework, chapter tests, quizzes, individual and group projects, participation, etc.  Their grade will be based on the total number of points for the class divided by the number of points earned by the student for each nine week period.  Ex.  1000 pts. / 900 = 90% = A-

Make-Up Work for Absences:
For each class period missed, students will be allowed one day plus the class period they were absent.

School Activity Absence:
Assignments that are due the date that the student will be absent must be handed in that day.  Assignments given the day the student is absent, will be due the next day.

Late Work Policy:
Assignments handed in one day late – 70% credit
Assignments handed in within the same unit – 60% credit if student meets with teacher to complete the assignment.
Assignment handed in after unit assessment – no credit.

Tardies:
If a student is late to school, he/she must report to the office.  Tardy is Tardy.  There are no excused or unexcused when you come to school late.  Students are allowed two tardies in a 9 – week period.  The office will administer all tardies.
            3 -  5 tardies in a 9 – week period – 30 minute detention
            6 – 8 tardies in a 9 week period – 1 hour detention
9 and succeeding tardies in a 9 – week period – ISS plus parent conference
